How to Carry Out and Interpret FeNO for Diagnosis of Asthma (with live Q&A)

FeNO devices measure fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) in the breath of patients. Nitric oxide is a biomarker for asthma which provides an indication of the level of inflammation in the lungs.1

The benefits of FeNO include improved accuracy of diagnosis for patients suspected of having asthma, and it also helps both patients and clinicians understand the individual’s condition in more detail.1 The most recent Asthma NICE guidance [NG245] recommends that FeNO is performed as an objective test to help support a diagnosis of asthma.2

Despite this, in 2020, it was noted that FeNO testing had lower-than-expected patient access.3 This presents an opportunity for the NHS to improve uptake and support the NHS Long Term Plan’s ambition of improving early and accurate diagnosis of respiratory conditions by embedding FeNO testing in primary care.3

Chiesi have invited Dr Rory Chan to present on the application of FeNO to support the diagnostic method in being used more widely for the diagnosis of asthma patients. He is joined by Practice Nurse Sonia Silk, who will share her insight to the benefits FeNO has brought to her practice and provide her first-hand experience.

This webinar will explain what FeNO is and what can be done to try and change the perception of FeNO among healthcare professionals. It will also contain the positives of using FeNO, touching upon the patient perspective and highlights the resources available.

We sincerely hope you can join us on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 at 1–2pm for this webinar and live Q&A session.
